These days in the USA 2 fabulous sports are approaching to the end: basket (NBA) and ice hockey (NHL) are about to have thair conference finals.

NBA Western Conference Final - L.A. Lakers vs Phoenix Suns

No big surprise on this side, the Lakers defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder (4-2) in the first round and the Utah Jazz (4-0) in the semifinal.
The Suns won the Portland Trail Blazers (4-2) and, maybe this was a little surprising, the San Antonio Spurs (4-0). All close matches (game 4 http://www.nba.com/video/channels/playoffs/2010/05/09/0040900224_phx_sas_recap.nba/index.html). It was since the 2003 that the Spurs disposed of the Suns on the playoffs.

Game 1: monday 17/5, Suns @ Lakers: 107-128 (highlights: http://www.nba.com/video/channels/playoffs/2010/05/17/0040900311_phx_lal_recap.nba/index.html)
Game 2: wednesday 19/5, Suns @ Lakers: 112-124 (highlights: http://www.nba.com/video/channels/playoffs/2010/05/19/0040900312_phx_lal_recap.nba/index.html)
Game 3: sunday 23/5, Lakers @ Suns: 109-118 (highlights: http://www.nba.com/games/20100523/LALPHX/gameinfo.html)
Game 4: tuesday 25/5, Lakers @ Suns: 106-115 (highlights: http://www.nba.com/games/20100525/LALPHX/gameinfo.html)
Game 5: thursday 27/5, Suns @ Lakers: 101-103 (highlights: http://www.nba.com/games/20100527/PHXLAL/gameinfo.html)
Game 6: saturday 29/5, Lakers @ Suns: 111-103 (highlights: http://www.nba.com/games/20100529/LALPHX/gameinfo.html)
Series closed, Los Angeles Lakers at NBA Final by defeating the Phoenix Suns 4-2

My "here i claim it, here i deny" forecast is a 4-1 for the Lakers.

NBA Eastern Conference Final - Orlando Magic vs Boston Celtics

Here u got a big surprise. Not of course to the Magic's side cause they dominated their ganes ( a couple of "walking" 4-0 to the Charlotte Bobcats and the Atlanta Hawks).
But the Celtics first they won the Miami Heat (4-1) and in the semifinal they defeated the best team of the season, the Cleveland Cavaliers (4-2). It's been decisive game 5 in Cleveland, where Boston humiliated the Cavs 120-88, and King LeBron James didnt score more than 15 points. Then in game 6 in Boston last night LeBron had a pride comeback but it wasnt enough (http://www.nba.com/video/channels/playoffs/2010/05/13/0040900206_cle_bos_recap.nba/index.html. From a selfish point of view im quite happy of this results because maybe LeBron will change team and there are high odds his future team will be the New York Knicks. ^^

Game 1: sunday 16/5, Celtics @ Magic: 92-88 (highlights: http://www.nba.com/video/channels/playoffs/2010/05/16/0040900301_bos_orl_recap.nba/index.html)
Game 2: tuesday 18/5, Celtics @ Magic: 95-92 (highlights: http://www.nba.com/video/channels/playoffs/2010/05/18/0040900302_bos_orl_recap.nba/index.html)
Game 3: saturday 22/5, Magic @ Celtics: 71-94 (highlights: http://www.nba.com/games/20100522/ORLBOS/gameinfo.html)
Game 4: monday 24/5, Magic @ Celtics: 96-92 (highlights: http://www.nba.com/games/20100524/ORLBOS/gameinfo.html)
Game 5: wednesday 26/5, Celtics @ Magic: 92-116 (highlights: http://www.nba.com/games/20100526/BOSORL/gameinfo.html)
Game 6: friday 28/5, Magic @ Celtics: 84-96 (highlights: ...)
Series closed, Boston Celtics at NBA Final by defeating the Orlando Magic 4-2

My forecast is a 4-0 for the Magic (a 4-1 at most). [<-- to dump :-/]

--

NHL Western Conference Final - San Jose Sharks vs Chicago Blackhawks

No surprises but very good matches all on the "razor-edge". The Sharks firts defeated the Colorado Avalanche 4-2 and then the Detroit Red Wings 4-1 but this result may be a bit misleading. In fact, all the Sharks wins were by 4-3.
On the other hand Chicago won the Nasville Predators (on 2-2 it was decisive game 5 won by Chicago in overtime) and the Vancouver Canucks 4-2 (here's been decisive the lack of shape of Canuckss and Canada national team goaltender Roberto Luongo).

GAME 1: sunday 16/5, Blackhawks @ Sharks: 2-1 (highlights: http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/console?hlg=20092010,3,321&navid=sb:highlights)
GAME 2: tuesday 18/5, Blackhawks @ Sharks: 4-2 (highlights: http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/console?hlg=20092010,3,322)
GAME 3: thursday 20/5, Sharks @ Blackhawks: 2-3 (Overtime) (highlights: http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/console?hlg=20092010,3,323)
GAME 4: saturday 22/5, Sharks @ Blackhawks: 2-4 (highlights: http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/console?hlg=20092010,3,324&navid=sb:highlights)
Series closed, Chicago Blackhawks at Stanley Cup Final by defeating the San Jose Sharks 4-0

My forecast: San Jose wins 4-2 (<-- I'm the greatest forecaster!! ;P)

NHL Eastern Conference Final - Philadelphia Flyers vs Montreal Canadiens

Now this conference has been really something. On the first round the Canadiens defeated the best team of the entire league, the Washington Capitals, 4-3 (Washington was leading 3-1) winning by 2-1 on game 7 in Washington (very dramatic match, http://www.nhl.tv/team/launch.htm?hlg=20092010,3,117&fr=false). Then on the second round they did it again, they won the past season champions Pittsburgh Penguins by 4-3 winning game 7 in Pittsburgh (http://www.nhl.tv/team/launch.htm?hlg=20092010,3,217&fr=false). The hero for the Canadiens in both series was the goaltender Halak (check out commentators speech Very Happy).
The Flyers won the New Jersey Devils 4-1 and on second round the Boston Bruins. I wouldn't want to be a Boston fan today. The Bruins were leading the series 3-0, then Philadelphia made a huge comeback and tied on 3-3. Then game 7 in Boston: The Bruins leading 3-0 and in the end they lost 4-3!! (http://www.nhl.tv/team/launch.htm?hlg=20092010,3,227&fr=false). The worst thing at all for a fan.

GAME 1: sunday 16/5, Canadiens @ Flyers: 0-6 (highlights: http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/console?hlg=20092010,3,311&navid=sb:highlights)
GAME 2: tuesday 18/5, Canadiens @ Flyers: 0-3 (highlights: http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/console?hlg=20092010,3,312)
GAME 3: thursday 20/5, Flyers @ Canadiens: 1-5 (highlights: http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/console?hlg=20092010,3,313)
GAME 4: saturday 22/5, Flyers @ Canadiens: 3-0 (highlights: http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/console?hlg=20092010,3,314)
GAME 5: monday 24/5, Canadiens @ Flyers: 2-4 (highlights: http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/console?hlg=20092010,3,315&navid=sb:highlights)
Series closed, Chicago Blackhawks at Stanley Cup final by defeating the Montreal Canadiens 4-1

My forecast: 4-3 for... can be any! (<-- This time i was closer... Bah!)

Nice post Scia. About Lebron... maybe it will be better for him, change club, but 15 points are not enough. Some people says he did it on purpose and looking the match I'm quite agree. Anyway he's a professional and he shouldn't do things like this. If you are playing in a team you have to do always the most you can, not only for yourself, you are part of a team. Cavaliers trusted in Lebron and he failed them.

2 surprises: Boston won in Orlando (great Ray Allen), and in the NHL Chicago won in San Jose.

I understand your point but maybe that's the problem: he didnt have a "team" around him. I mean, Mo Williams and the others may be good in regular season but playoffs are definitely a different things, if u dont have the attributes u dont go on.
LeBron is a "king" but also a human being and he may fail a match. That's when the team should help. I believe Boston is the best example of what im saying.

And anyway, lets stop with Shaq! He's too heavy by now! -D

Great summary Igor.
Could u explain me the situation of Dallas and especially Dirk Nowitzki? I heard he would like to join a better team.

And another question. What do you think about the ice hockey world-cup in Germany?
I got surprised that Germany won the 1. match vs USA 2:1. It was my 1. touch with the USA sports lol

Well, Dallas was eliminated on the first round by the San Antonio Spurs 4-2, in a plain way.
I was expecting a bit more from Dallas but it seems thay are more a regular season team instead of a playoff team. About Dirk, honestly i dunno. I searched a bit in internet but i havent found anything about a potential divorce from the Mavs.

Yeah, im having under attentin the ice-hockey workd championship, but since the NHL playoffs are still running they lost a bit of charme (the best players from all over the world play in NHL). If u notice, most players comes from the NHl anyway but they are second choices. There are some super stars though, like the russian Alexander Ovechkin (Washington was eliminated on first round so they let him go).

About the american team, just compare the roster from the recent Olympic Games (NHL was stopped in that period) and the roster from this World Championship:

USA team at Olympic Games
Goaltenders
Ryan Miller
Jonathan Quick
Tim Thomas
Defenders
Erik Johnson
Jack Johnson
Mike Komisarek
Paul Martin
Brooks Orpik
Brian Rafalski
Ryan Suter
Attackers
David Backes
Dustin Brown
Ryan Callahan
Chris Drury
Patrick Kane
Ryan Kesler
Phil Kessel
Jamie Langenbrunner
Ryan Malone
Zach Parise
Joe Pavelski
Bobby Ryan
Paul Stastny

USA team at World Championship
Goaltenders
BISHOP Ben
CLEMMENSEN Scott
LEGGIO David
Defenders
GREENE Matt
JOHNSON Jack
GREENE Andy
HILLEN Jack
LUNDIN Mike
CHORNEY Taylor
YANDLE Keith
GILROY Matt
Attackers
KENNEDY Tim
POTULNY Ryan
DUBINSKY Brandon
GALIARDI TJ
KREIDER Chris
HANSON Christian
OKPOSO Kyle
CARTER Ryan
NYSTROM Eric
MOSS David
FOLIGNO Nick
OSHIE TJ

At a glance i dont see one name that is in both teams. And at Olympic Games the final was the announced USA-Canada (won by the canadiens at overtime).

Changing topic, about LeBron James, there has been a gossip around him these days. It seems that the reason why he (and the rest of the team) played badly in game 4 vs Boston was a suspected love affair between his mother and... a 16 years younger LeBron's teammate, Delonte West! (A bad guy with a dirty past, btw). LeBron neglected on this, of course. But who knows... ^^

Well, I know everybody is human and can fail but do it on purpose is not the same. I want to trust that he didn't do it on purpose but i'm not sure. Maybe his team didn't help him but anyway it isn't a reason to play bad.

Well for me the excuse that lebron has no team this year doesnt work.
If there hadnt any team was his bad this year, all the systems are thought for him, he is the centre of the game style of cleveland, so people like Jamison; Shaq and Mo Williams have less throws, and less time the ball than what they d have in other team of the league, where they have shown what they can do.
This is cleveland´s roster(more or less,i am talking by memory):

Mo williams/telfair/west
parker/gibson
James/moon
jamison/varejao/powe
oneal/ilgauskas/

Is it a bad team? i ll never understand what people want lebron has as mates, last years i could accept but this...no way :S

Great thread, i like nba though i confess that i have watched few games this year than wha id have liked, only some full games, some half games and a lot of resumes. Now i am trying to watch more playoffs games.

I ll explain my opinion about more nba topics other day. My forecast(somehow unfair cause i d say at the beggining 4-2 for orlando):

orlando 3-boston 4
lakers 4-suns 1

About dallas, well i have read rumours that lebron could finish in dallas with nowitzki.
I d love lebron+Stoudamire/bosh/boozer went to New york and wade to chicago. Anyway, this summer promisses to be very active, lets see how ll finish all

double post ftw

well almost byebye to my forecast about boston orlando. Even if they have a good team, they are way too weak-minded. Btw i wouldnt really consider boston as a real surprise since it seems they have being "touching his balls" during the regular season to be in a perfect form in playoffs, anyway i still see favourite Lakers for finals ( maybe its also cause i am a lakers fan(before gasol came btw)).

Let me do some offtopic, rumore rumore: dunno if u have also read it but its said that West (lebron`smate) had sex with his mother, could it explain his not so high level? lol

In Italy we say "scratching own balls", but the concept is the same. ^^
Yeah it definitely seems so, Boston is now 3-0 and only a miracle could give the Magic the Nba final by now. Personally im very disappointed, i expected a lot more from Orlando, but the series is not over yet, lets see.

Yep i read about LeBron's mommy supposed affair. LeBron replied with a huge "untrue". Now, looking at Delonte West, i can only trust LeBron, but women's taste about men is not always "obvious", so to say. Smile

Woah, 36 points, 9 rebounds and 11 assists by Kobe Bryant werent enough for Lakers to win game 3 in Phoenix. Stoudamire made 42 points and 11 rebounds, and Phoenix won the first home match.
Next game will be decisive, imo. If the Suns will tie, the series will be very uncertain. But if Lakers should go on 3-1, it would be basically done.

Meanwhile the first series to end was the NHL western final: Chicago eliminated San Jose 4-0.

Wow, the Lakers-Suns series is really something, all games with more than 100 points scored by both teams. Suns tied up the series winning game 4 in Phoenix last night. Very consisten team!

In the other series both teams scored less than 100 points in every game. Anyway Boston lost the chance to close 4-0 at Boston Garden, series is now 3-1. I heard that no team in all Nba history has ever recovered from 0-3, we'll see.

Meanwhile, the Stanley Cup Final will be a game between Chicago and Philadelphia, very suggestive.

Yeah really impressive, a jumper master. Im sorry for the Suns, which are one of the nicest team of all imo, but a final Lakers vs Celtics has a romantic taste for me. Besides the 2008 final, i remember the incredible games Magic Johnson vs Larry Bird in the 80s.
Boston rly surprised me, i was totally sure Orlando was gonna win easily. But Boston seems to have the right mix of young players like Rondo nad the "old guard" Pierce, Garnett and Allen.

Well, whenever i dont have a favourite team in a final, i always fancy the "weaker" team. So i'll keep the Celtics. Enjoy! ^^

Lol, nice reaction to Paul Pierce that the series is not going back to L.A. xD

Ah Shaq went to Boston, poor Perkins. ^^
Yes it could be a nice season, personally i see a fast start by Miami, dragged by the enthusiasm for the "marvellous trio", but i dont think Miami is gonna win the title (Lakers still favourite).

My Knicks took Amarie Stoudamire from Phoenix, if they won't let go other players, like Gallinari, maybe this season they'll reach play-offs. Pity, this year i dont have (yet!) any excuse to sell to my gf and go to N.Y... QQ
